Let me tell you
what to expect
from our unexpected
Neighbourhood.

THE COMMUNITY

We simply cannot deny that our community, Talad Noi, plays important part to make us who we are. To some guests, this is such quite unusual place out of touristic route. To us, it is our home, it is not picture perfect, and it is so real as it can be.

During the past 30 years of our present in this community, here is how we can describe our community. At the blink of the eye, we can SEE that it has been so dense, and so crowded. Streets are smalls. Food stalls everywhere, and so as cars park. Shop houses are old and dirty. Engines pile up and street floor is blackening by greasy and smelly oil. With your ears, you can HEAR dogs are barking, and so as cats are meowing. Motorcycles are beeping. Boats are horning.  But with your heart, you can FEEL alive, and restful.

RECONSTRUCTION
OF THE COMMUNITY

Recently there has been an initiative to reconstruct Talad Noi community into an ideal community where old heritage lives in harmony with modernity. Thanks to the corroboration between Bangkok Metropolitan Authority and Arsorm Silp Institution (Silpakorn University), which they have officially launched the project in 2014.

Initiative such as Walking Tours to visit Chinese Temples, Chinese Mansion, and Meet-and-Greet with senior residents, have been organized and well appreciated. During the community most famous Vegetarian festival in October, “Talad Noi Museum” popped up near Jo Sue Gong Chinese Temple. Giving the public an opportunity to visit a rare 200-year-old Chinese Mansion, where you can imagine our Chinese ancestor used to live like. Special signage both Thai and English were placed around the community with rich information to educate passer-by.

Among other things is English course on every Sunday takes place at Pratumkongkha Temple taught by our very own receptionist Khun Tiew. Locals like Ar-Ma (Mother) Ar-Sim (Sister) are exciting to speak English to our foreign visitors.  Those Ar-ma and Ar-sim are as a matter of fact the real gems of the community. With their kindness, in many cases allow visitors into their house taking their photos and drinking their tea, Talad Noi is full of humanity.

The upcoming project is Panurangsi Pier’s Park.
It is at the bottom of Soi Panurangsi before you turn left to Baan Udom. This small plot of land by the river soon will become a park and open-air museum.
We would have a green space which we can breath
such fresh air.
